MUSIC FOR PICTURE & STAGE

Stuart Bogie has written, produced, and performed music for narrative and documentary films, commercials, toys, video games, and various stage productions from modern dance to Broadway. In the Broadway Musical Fela! directed by Bill T Jones (nominated for 13 Tonys), Bogie was the featured soloist, developing and performing several improvised solo through the show. Bogie and collaborator Luke O’Malley composed the original score for the feature length documentary How to Survive a Plague, directed by David France, which received several honors including an Oscar nomination.

Most recently he collaborated closely with Richard Reed Perry for his score to The Nest, which debuted at Sundance in 2020. Perry, Bogie, and pianist Parker Shper performed as a trio for the film’s premiere.

Branches with PILOBOLUS, debuted at The Joyce Theater (2019), Bogie contributed original musical segments in his first of many collaborations with PILOBOLUS

Fela!, directed by Bill T Jones - In this TONY award winning Broadway musical, Bogie developed the saxophone’s role as the featured soloist. Performing live onstage, Bogie improvised several solos through out the show.

by Rockstar Games. These American Western themed video games offered Bogie a chance to play his Bass Harmonica, Jaw Harps, Bass Clarinet, and other staples from the classic cinematic color box inspired by the late great Morricone.

Commercials

Levi’s - created music, improvised his script, and was featured personality for this unique Errol Morris directed commercial from 1999. In the commercial Bogie, then working as a cheese Monger in Oakland, CA, declares his musical ambitions and lists off random cheeses. After filming this commercial Bogie sadly never returned to the cheese counter.
